Between 2020 and 2026, I photographed IFBB Professional League and NPC Worldwide competitions from the inside, promoted by Emilio Martínez, building an archive of more than 5,000 photographs.

Anatomy of Competition brings together a selection of that work and offers a perspective that goes beyond physique and results. The images, taken at different competitions and in different years, are arranged as if they belonged to a single event: from preparation and waiting, to the stage, comparisons, the final result, and everything that happens afterwards. Black and white gives the series a sense of unity and draws attention to the light, the bodies, and the gestures, but also to the small details unfolding around them that often go unnoticed.

Rather than focusing only on the athletes, this exhibition approaches competition as a human experience shaped by discipline, tension, uncertainty, and emotion.

I present these photographs with deep respect and admiration for everyone who is part of this world and who, over the years, has allowed me to photograph it from such a close perspective.
